The United States added 209,000 new jobs in June, according to the monthly report released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The national unemployment rate decreased slightly from 3.7 percent in May to 3.6 percent in June.

The largest gains were seen in government (+60,000), health care (+41,000), social assistance (+24,000), construction (+23,000), and professional and business services (+21,000). June marks the 30th consecutive month of job gains in the U.S., though it reflects a continued cooling of the labor market, as it reacts to the Federal Reserve’s inflation-fighting policies.
